Staff at newly built SAJ hospital at Flacq are deeply concerned about their safety following an incident that took place in the hospital parking on Monday evening. A young doctor literally panicked when a hospital employee formerly posted at SAJ hospital tried to harass her and assault her.

Following the incident, other staff members now fear for their safety at work. The culprit who was only recently punitively transferred from SAJ hospital to Candos hospital following several complaints against his rogue behaviour was not supposed to be there at that time. It is alleged that he had been recruited despite holding a criminal record and has often been caught red-handed taking drugs at work. Since he claimed to be close to a political party and bullies staff around, even threatening to have them transferred to far away places, noone dared to make a complaint for fear of reprisal. After a change in government, some staff members were bold enough to now denounce this toxic situation. 

Doctors speaking under anonymity believe he is a huge threat not only to staff members but also to patients. It is argued that transferring him will only shift the problem from one hospital to another and staff have asked  the ministry of health to take necessary action in the interest of all.
