New Prime Minister Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam reiterates his firm commitment to realise all electoral promises

After Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam’s Alliance du Changement crushing victory at the 2024 Mauritius general elections held on 10 November 2024 leaving not a single Parliamentary seat for outgoing Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth’s Lepep Alliance, he was officially sworn in as Prime Minister of Mauritius on Wednesday 13 November. The newly appointed Prime Minister took the oath of Allegiance and oath of Office before the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun.

Dr Ramgoolam’s alliance swept all the 60 seats, a historical feat that has happened two times in the past. In 1982, the MMM led by Paul Berenger won all the 60 seats while in 1995, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam in alliance with the MMM of Paul Berenger won a landslide 60-0 victory against Sir Anerood Jugnauth. In the 2024 elections, Mr Paul Berenger was in alliance with Dr Ramgoolam.

In a statement to the press, Dr Ramgoolam reiterated his firm commitment to realise all his electoral promises. He emphasized that this was a victory for the population who voted massively to oust the previous unpopular government.

The Alliance du Changement is holding a Thank You rally in Port Louis on Sunday.
