The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, met the outgoing United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative for Mauritius and Seychelles, Ms Amanda Serumaga, this afternoon at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.
In a statement Ms Serumaga, who is concluding her mission in Mauritius after six and a half years, highlighted that the meeting was an opportunity to apprise Prime Minister Ramgoolam of the works that the UNDP has accomplished.
She recalled that the UNDP has been involved in several infrastructure projects around the island, such as the Rivière des Gallets wall which protects the community against seawater rise as well as the artificial reef at Mont Choisy beach.
Ms Serumaga also reassured that the UNDP remains committed to accompanying Mauritius along the national development plan that Government has articulated. The UNDP also looks forward to being given clear guidance and direction as to what the key priorities of the country will be in the future, she concluded.
