Prime Minister Dr Navin Ramgoolam left the country this afternoon for a state visit to India scheduled for September 9 to 16. Led by an official delegation comprising several ministers and officials, the Head of Government aims to strengthen historical and strategic links between the two countries.
Members of the delegation include Ministers Ritesh Ramphul, Patrick Assirvaden, Avinash Ramtohul, Adil Ameer Meea, Jyoti Jeetun and Junior Minister Dhaneshwar Damry.
The highlight of this visit will be the meet between the Prime Minister and his Indian counterpart, Shri Narendra Modi, scheduled in Varanasi. An official welcoming ceremony with all honors will be organized on this occasion.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will participate in several high-level working sessions and sign several cooperation agreements. He will also hold exchanges with senior Indian dignitaries in New Delhi.
An economic front is also at the heart of the visit, with a strategic meeting planned with business representatives in Mumbai. The aim is to promote investment opportunities in Mauritius and strengthen existing economic partnerships.
The cultural dimension will not be in rest. The Prime Minister will pay a symbolic visit to Ayodhya, the iconic city of Indian spiritual heritage.
This state visit is part of a dynamic of close cooperation between Mauritius and India, two nations united by historical, cultural and human ties, and should lead to new avenues of collaboration.
