The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, received, today, UK MP and the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to South Africa and Mauritius, Mr Andrew Selous, at the New Treasury Building in Port-Louis.
In a statement following the meeting, the UK’s Trade Envoy elaborated upon the Strategic Trade Partnership which will be signed between Mauritius and the UK during his three-day visit to the country.
Underlining the strong bilateral relations between both countries, Mr Selous indicated that the UK is the second largest export market for Mauritius while adding that the latter is the UK’s sixth biggest market in Africa. To this end, he spoke of increasing trade and investment in areas such as the blue economy, financial services, education, agri-tech, health care and cybersecurity.
Mr Selous looks forth to deepening and expanding the investment and trade relationship between Mauritius and the UK. He also expressed optimism in tapping on more business opportunities with the African Investment Summit to be held in London in April 2024.
