The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Kobita Jugnauth, paid a visit to the residents of the residential care home, Maison De La Paix (also known as Couvent Mère Theresa), in Roche Bois, on Sunday morning 07 May 2023.

The Prime Minister met the residents and nuns of Maison De La Paix and conversed with them. The residents rejoiced on meeting the dignitaries, and showed their appreciation by offering them a bouquet.

Moreover, a cake cutting ceremony by two centenarians of the residential care home took place in the presence of Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

The dignitaries also proceeded too with planting of trees in the yard of the residential care home.

Prime Minister attends Mass commemorating 50th Anniversary of the Deportation of Chagossians

Following the visit to the residential care home, Prime Minister Jugnauth attended a special Mass, held at the St Francois Xavier Church, in Port Louis, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the last Deportation of the Chagossians.

It is recalled that between 1967 and 1973, around 2,000 Chagossians were forcibly deported from the Chagos Archipelagos.
