The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam will, on the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Seychelles, proceed this afternoon to attend the Swearing-in Ceremony of Dr Patrick Herminie, President-elect of the Republic of Seychelles. The Ceremony will be held on Sunday 26 October 2025.
On the sidelines of this event, the Prime Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of the Republic of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, who is also attending the Swearing-in Ceremony.
It is recalled that the Prime Minister is attending the second time a presidential Swearing-in Ceremony in the Seychelles. In August 2006, Prime Minister Ramgoolam attended the Swearing-in Ceremony of former President, Mr James Michel. At the time, he was the only head of government to have accepted the special invitation from the Seychellois authorities, demonstrating the strong friendship, deep attachment, and commitment towards the Seychelles, which, like Mauritius, is a member of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC).
This visit is part of the same dynamic, illustrating once again the Mauritian Government’s desire to strengthen the historical, diplomatic, and economic ties between Mauritius and the Seychelles, in a spirit of regional cooperation, solidarity, and shared development within the IOC.
