National Day Celebrations 2023: PM participates in collaborative painting initiative

The Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, participated in the collaborative painting initiative aiming to showcase patriotism through art, today, in front of the Government Centre in Port Louis.

The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck; Members of Parliament, Mr Mohamad Salim Abbas Mamode, and Ms Marie Joanne Sabrina Tour, the Lord Mayor of Port Louis, Mr Mahfooz Moussa Cader Saib, and other personalities were present.

The collaborative painting initiative encourages the population to work together to create a painting that would illustrate the unity and harmony prevailing in the country.
It is recalled that in the context of the 55th Anniversary Independence and 31st Anniversary of the Republic of Mauritius, a canvas measuring four metres in length and eight metres in height has been placed in front of the Government Centre in Port Louis. The public can choose from any of the four colours the National Flag, that is Red, Blue, Yellow and Green, for their hand painting, and place their hand print on the canvas.

This initiative, launched on 13 March by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, will end on 17 March 2023. As at date, some 1 500 citizens have participated by leaving their hand print on the canvas.
