Grant-In-Aid Scheme for free pre-primary education: VPM Dookun-Luchoomun interacts with representatives of pre-primary schools

The Grant-In-Aid Scheme for free pre-primary education was presented this afternoon by officers of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, to representatives of pre-primary schools, at the World Hindi Secretariat in Phoenix. The Vice-Prime Minister (VPM), Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, was present on the occasion.

Following the presentation, a discussion session was held, during which the VPM interacted with the representatives of pre-primary schools who were able to put forth questions pertaining to the Grant-In-Aid Scheme as well as to share recommendations.

During her address to the pre-primary school representatives, VPM Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun underpinned the crucial role that early childhood care and education plays in the development of a child. The Pre-primary school, she emphasised, remains the key setting where the future of the child is moulded.

This is why Government is deeply resolved to provide the necessary facilities to educational institutions so that they offer high quality education and the best learning experience in the most favourable conditions to learners, pointed out the Education Minister.

Speaking about the introduction of the Grant-In-Aid Scheme, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun informed that it is aligned with the Ministry’s commitment to cater for the best learning journey, wellbeing and wholesome development of young students, adding that as a starting point, it has been elaborated in line with the available resources and will be finetuned if needed in the future.

Besides, she encouraged all the pre-primary school representatives to consider the conditions of the Grant-In-Aid Scheme and to accordingly make their decision of whether to adhere to it.
