Newly designated high commissioner of Seychelles pays courtesy call on Minister

The newly designated High Commissioner of the Republic of Seychelles to the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Claude Sylvestre Anthony Morel, paid a courtesy call, yesterday, on the Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Alan Ganoo, at the seat of his Ministry in Port Louis.

In a statement, High Commissioner Morel indicated that he had a cordial meeting with Minister Ganoo and highlighted the strong friendship ties between Mauritius and Seychelles.

Discussions, he underlined, focused on further strengthening bilateral relations and regional cooperation between both countries on issues such as fisheries, tourism, maritime security, and investment.

Mr Morel further dwelt on the next Mauritius-Seychelles Joint Commission which will be held in Seychelles in April 2023. The Joint Commission, he pointed out, will aim to take stock of the progress made so far as regards the joint management of the continental shelf and to come up with a roadmap for the next three to four years.

He also seized this opportunity to reiterate his support to Mauritius with regard to the sovereignty of the Chagos archipelago.
